Synopsis via Goodreads:

From the author of the “real page-turner” (SeventeenSuch a Rush comes an unforgettable new drama that follows friends-turned-lovers as they navigate the passions, heartbreaks, and intrigue of country music fame.

Bailey wasn’t always a wild child and the black sheep of her family. She used to play fiddle and tour the music circuit with her sister, Julie, who sang and played guitar. That ended when country music execs swooped in and signed Julie to a solo deal. Never mind that Julie and Bailey were a duet, or that Bailey was their songwriter. The music scouts wanted only Julie, and their parents were content to sit by and let her fulfill her dreams while Bailey’s were hushed away.

Bailey has tried to numb the pain and disappointment over what could have been. And as Julie’s debut album is set to hit the charts, her parents get fed up with Bailey’s antics and ship her off to granddad’s house in Nashville. Playing fiddle in washed-up tribute groups at the mall, Bailey meets Sam, a handsome and oh-so-persuasive guitarist with his own band. He knows Bailey’s fiddle playing is just the thing his band needs to break into the industry. But this life has broken Bailey’s heart once before. She isn’t sure she’s ready to let Sam take her there again…

I have read and enjoyed multiple books by Jennifer Echols in the past (You can find my review for Such A Rush HERE) so when I saw the invitation to join the Blog Tour for Dirty Little Secret, I immediately signed up.
My favorite thing about Jennifer Echols books is the writing.  I know when I pick a book up with her name on it that the characters will be written so realistically and wholly that I won’t have a problem making a connection with them.
Bailey has been forced into the shadows for the last year by her parents and her sister’s record company in hopes that no one finds out that Bailey and her sister Julie used to be a duo until the company that signed Julie decided that she was the only one they wanted.  Bailey’s parents have threatened to not pay for her college if she rises to the surface and ruins Julie’s image.  I can completely understand why Bailey has been acting out since her sister got signed, all she wants is to get her parents attention and honestly if I was in her shoes I would probably do the same thing.
When Bailey is asked by the handsome Sam to play with his band she initially says no, since her parents have forbad her to play music anymore, but she underestimates how persuasive Sam can be.
I have to say that I absolutely loathed Bailey’s parents.  I am a mom of two children and I can’t imagine helping one child pursue their dreams and giving up on the other and I will never understand how some parents can.
Some people may have a harder time relating to this book due to the whole country music thing but since I live in a small town in Kentucky it was right up my alley.  Overall, Dirty Little Secret is another fantastic book by Jennifer Echols and I look forward to reading more of her books in the future.
