The Scarlet Letter meets Minority Report in bestselling author Sophie Jordan's chilling new novel about a teenage girl who is ostracized when her genetic test proves she's destined to become a murderer.

When Davy Hamilton's tests come back positive for Homicidal Tendency Syndrome (HTS)-aka the kill gene-she loses everything. Her boyfriend ditches her, her parents are scared of her, and she can forget about her bright future at Juilliard. Davy doesn't feel any different, but genes don't lie. One day she will kill someone.

Only Sean, a fellow HTS carrier, can relate to her new life. Davy wants to trust him; maybe he's not as dangerous as he seems. Or maybe Davy is just as deadly.

The first in a two-book series, Uninvited tackles intriguing questions about free will, identity, and human nature. Steeped in New York Times bestselling author Sophie Jordan's trademark mix of gripping action and breathless romance, this suspenseful tale is perfect for fans of James Patterson, Michelle Hodkin, and Lisa McMann.

Uninvited has been on my radar for a while and I was extremely excited to get started reading it, and I'm happy to say that this book surpassed my very high expectations.

What if you lived in a world where one tiny strand of DNA could change everything about your life?  This is what happens to Davy.  In the beginning she is just your ordinary senior girl who has a great boyfriend, best friend and her future all mapped out.  Then she finds out that she has tested positive for HTS (Homicidal Tendency Syndrome) and her world changes.

Once you have been identified as a carrier of HTS, people look at you and treat you differently, like you’re someone to be feared.  Davy has a hard time accepting her new status, especially since she was used to being a person that everyone loved.

The characters in this book as so realistic.  The things that Davy went through broke my heart, I just wanted to jump right in and give her a hug and punch everyone who treated her differently.  And Sean, *swoon* have I mentioned I'm a sucker for bad boys?  But Sean doesn't just have the bad boy vibe that keeps everyone from thinking twice about messing with him and me wishing he was real, he's also extremely caring and he goes to great lengths to protect those he cares about, what more could you ask for in a book boyfriend?

Overall, Uninvited is an amazing beginning to a new series and one that will most likely make my 'best of 2014' list.  Jordan's writing is phenomenal and the world is so intriguing that it was impossible for me not to fall in love with this book.
