The B-Side Diaries by Brian Joyce was free on Amazon for a Cyber Monday deal so I just had to grab it. From what I have read in the synopsis it reminds me a lot of Thirteen Reasons Why.

Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover was on Christy's Stacking the Shelves last week and from everyone's excitement of it...I just had to get it.

My Thoughts 

I was anticipating the day that I got to start reading Paper Towns. I had always wanted to read this book, especially after reading The Fault in our Stars (which I loved), but just never got around to doing so. Finally, someone on Goodreads chose for me to read this in a challenge that I was participating in. Although, I rated Paper Towns with just a 3.5, I am glad that she chose this book for me. Here is why...

Paper Towns is a book that definitely has it's twists and turns, which is what kept me intrigued and turning each page, but it, no doubt, had some very slow parts. Margo and Quentin, Q, are the two main characters of this book, but these are the two characters I had no connection to...whatsoever. I was very disappointed in the lack of personality and underdevelopment we received from Q, I desperately wanted some growth from him.

The book starts off with something that no one would want to go through, but the young lives of Margo and Quentin have to go through that pain. Soon, we fast forward to their high school days where Margo is miss popular and Quentin, a 'band geek.' The two have drifted a part from their younger days, but from afar Q is still admiring Margo. One night changes it all, when a thrilling adventure turns their lost friendship into something new. But, soon the friendship is gone when Margo makes a decision that effects everyone around her. 

Q searches for clues and goes through the rest of his senior year desperately trying to figure out what went wrong...or even what he did to have caused this. He just wants to know, is his childhood friend alive or dead? 

Throughout this story there are a tremendous amounts of ups and downs, which I enjoyed. John Green, a spectacular author, did keep me intrigued throughout the book, but I do think there could have been more because at times I tended to doze off. The clues become obvious, but no one else in the book seems to think so and there are moments that go on forever that should only last a few pages. I wouldn't say I was disappointed in this book, I just wish that there would have been more depth within the two main characters.

Creed by Trisha Leaver and Lindsay Currie - Some of the things that happen in this book shattered my emotions.

Some Boys by Patty Blount - This book brought out ALL THE EMOTIONS.

Me Since You by Laura Wiess - I just can't even, I'm still not over this one.

Red Hill by Jamie McGuire - Yep, a zombie book made the list.  Here's why: "I know the world ended on a Friday. It was the last day I saw my children." That got me, and I spent the whole book with my heart breaking for Scarlet.

If I Stay by Gayle Forman - This one killed me, I think I cried throughout the whole thing.

5 Books That Broke Erica's Heart

Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins I chose for reasons that if you read this book, you will understand. I almost wanted to throw the book and give up after a few moments started to unwind and happen in this book.

Kissed by an Angel by Elizabeth Chandler had me feeling every single emotion possible. Just from reading the synopsis I knew I was bound for tears.

Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher was definitely an upsetting book, but the reason I chose this for my list has a lot to do with personal reasons. 

Crank by Ellen Hopkins is just a thrilling story to go through,  it was heart-breaking to see what her family went through and all of the repercussions of Crank. I also chose this due to having a personal connection with the idea of this book.

The Fault in our Stars by John Green OH MY LANTA! I finished this book in one night and just cried so much throughout the whole thing. I just watched the movie yesterday and five minutes in I was crying....till the end. It honestly, broke my heart into a million tiny pieces.

Trivia Tuesdays (1)

Trivia Tuesdays are now here – the new addition to Christy’s Book Addiction. We have been trying to figure out a new weekly feature and we finally have (yay)! Trivia Tuesdays will include a range and variety of trivia questions for all you book lovers to answer.

Types of questions can range from:

First Lines – where Christy and I will be writing the first line or the first few lines of a book and you will try to guess which book

Character Personalities – we all love our favorite characters, so we will be listing a few personality traits about certain characters and you guys will guess which character we will be talking about

Where Are We? – Christy and I will be describing a place that we are (figuratively), whether it be Hogwarts, District 12 or the Divergent Universe, and you guys will try to pin-point our location and which book the location is set

Miscellaneous – where Christy and I can come up with any form/type of question to ask you guys with no particular title

We do so, but the only store in this run down town (which isn’t even on our map) looks like a barn. I am actually quite lost, where am I? [YA, Contemporary]

ARC Book Review: Love and Other Theories by Alexis Bass

But Nathan’s new-boy charm, his kindness, and his disarming honesty throw Aubrey off her game and put her in danger of breaking the most important rule of all: Don’t fall in love.

My Thoughts:

I’d be lying if I said that I wasn't expecting wonderful things when I requested this book but damn if I wasn’t slightly disappointed. Yes, I knew that it wouldn’t be all sunshine and butterflies based on that summary alone, but I also wasn’t expecting the deceit and betrayals. And honestly, I’m not sure if I would have read it if I had known. Now, before you write this book off as one that you’ll never read, please keep in mind that the issues that I had with this book are based on my own personal views and I believe that some of the things that I had a problem with won’t bother everybody so if this sounds like the type of book that you would like, then you should give it a chance.

Love and Other Theories starts off to a great start, we’re introduced to Aubrey and her friends and their evolved theories on dating and love in high school. Aubrey seems to be content with the theories and the way that she has to be, until Nathan.

Nathan had me from the get go, he was smart and caring and I thought he was exactly what Aubrey needed to pull her head out of the theory cloud and he was…for a while.

I don’t want to go into specifics about the story and Aubrey’s relationships lest I ruin everything but let’s just say I was really enjoying the first half but then some things happen and everyone acts like it was ok that it had happened, but if that would have happened to me, there would have been hell to pay, and I honestly don’t know how someone could have ‘overlooked’ these things and pretended everything was fine, but hey, that’s just me.

I know that shitty things happen and things like what happened in this book happen every day, and that’s fine. While I don’t agree with it, that wasn’t the major problem for me. My problem was, how someone could just be ok with it or at least pretend to be ok with it. It’s not ok to be treated that way and it just pissed me off the way that everyone seemed to think it was.

Overall, I think Love and Other Theories will be loved by a lot of readers, unfortunately it just pushed the wrong buttons for me.
