Now on to today's topic: Literary Fiction.  I must say that when I read the topic for today's discussion I got a little nervous because I wasn't really sure what exactly Literary Fiction was.  So after searching Google and Wikipedia for the definition I take Literary Fiction to mean books that made an impact on us, ones that made us sit back and think long after we read the last page.  Below are a few books that did that for me.

Breathing Underwater by Alex Flinn

The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

Hate List by Jennifer Brown

  2. I've heard wonderful things about John Green as well but still have not read any of his work. My post is all over the place in terms of lit fic! I love your choices here. (And my pick from above would be Auracle!)

  3. I guess I'm still trying to figure out what qualifies as Literary Fiction in my mind. But this is a great list and I'm adding some of the ones I haven't read to my goodreads :)

  4. I'm reading THE FAULT IN OUR STARS right now. I've owned it since it came out. I pre-ordered it and it's signed by John Green. I am near the end and I want to read it but I'm scared. :(

    Great list of books there!

  6. I've seen John Green pop up every now and then for these posts! I haven't read anything by him, but if many people think his works are considered "literature", then perhaps I shall check out his books! :D

    Check out my post!

  7. Ah, no The Fault in Our Stars for me. Something is always keeping me from reading the probably most valued YA novel of 2012:/ But it will happen...before I die :D

  8. Thank you for sharing with us and for the dandy giveaway opportunity. I would likely choose Undead. I always shy-away from the "literary fiction" term as so often people think it is the next great opus. I agree with the definitions you found in that it is a book that leaves a lasting impact on the reader. Key word "reader." Reading is so subjective and I will say a fun silly yet heartbreaking read put me on a new reading road and I will always treasure the book titled Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris, yet I know it would be very unlikely to fall into this category by others. :)

  9. So many mixed reactions to A Fault in Our Stars! But I think if a book makes you impassioned (either for or against it) then it has made an impact on your life.

Great list - thanks for sharing!

  12. I like how you've defined literary fiction. I tend to look at it as books that critics rave about but that don't generally appeal to a wide audience because of the writing style or subject matter.

I've not read any of the books on your list but would love to read The Fault in our Stars.

  13. The only book on your list I've read is The Fault in Our Stars and I wasn't a huge fan of it. It was okay but I didn't love it like everyone else did!
