Countdown Survey - Happy New Year's Eve!

Posted on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 12:00 AM

In honor of New Year's Eve, Erica and I thought that we would create a new Countdown Survey!  This one will have different questions from the previous one back in July, so even if you done that one, you can still complete this one as well!

The Countdown Survey was inspired by all the surveys and tags out there, such as The End of The Year survey by Jamie @ The Perpetual Page Turner, and The Seven Deadly Sins Tag by BookiskMalayza just to name a few.

Like before, we are going to have a link up at the bottom of this post so be sure to share your link so that we can check out your answers!  You're welcome to grab our graphic and use it in your post.   The only thing that we ask is that you link back to Novel Ink if you decide to participate :)

Ok, here's how it works:

We are going to countdown from 10 – 1 with topics listed for each number. Whatever the number is, that’s how many things you have to list for that topic. Example: 10 – Books on your wishlist, so I would name ten books that’s on my wishlist…see?? SIMPLE

Feel free to do your own post and link up below!

Seven Deadly Sins Tag

Posted on Friday, August 22, 2014 12:30 AM

Seven Deadly Sins

I.was tagged by Kirsty @ Studio Reads to do the Seven Deadly Sins Tag!

Here goes

1.  Greed

What is your most inexpensive book?

My most recent inexpensive book would be Dissonance by Erika O’Rourke, I actually one it off a giveaway on Goodreads so it was free ;)

2.  Wrath

What author do you have a love/hate relationship with?

I can’t think of a specific author that I have a love/hate relationship with off the top of my head *goes to check Goodreads*

After checking Goodreads, I’m going to have to go with Kresley Cole.  She’s really the only one who comes close.  I mean I LOVE the Immortals After Dark series but I really don’t care for her YA series, I can’t even remember the name of it now…the first one was Poison Princess, I think?????

3.  Gluttony

What book have you devoured over and over with no shame?

I’m going to cheat a little on this one (after all I’m a sinner, right?) and go with a series instead of ONE book.  This is hands down the Night Huntress Series by Jeaniene Frost.  It’s my all-time favorite series and I can’t even tell you how many times I have read through it.

4.  Sloth

What book have you neglected due to laziness?

Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson *sigh* It just looks so thick…

5.  Pride

What book do you talk most about in order to sound like an intellectual reader?

Ok, this may be the hardest of them all because I’m not a classic or nonfiction reader…AT ALL.  Hell, I didn’t even read the assigned classic books in high school.  So, let’s go with…. The Fault in Our Stars, that counts, right????

6.  Lust

What attributes do you find attractive in male or female characters?

Caring and a good sense of humor.  I can get root for any love interest, whether he’s the boy next door, nerd or resident bad boy, as long as he’s caring, has a good sense of humor and doesn’t hold on to things that don’t matter.

7.  Envy

What book would you most like to receive as a gift?

Right Now?  That would HAVE TO BE Isla and the Happily Ever After, but it looks like I’m going to end up buying it as a present to myself…

Now who shall I tag?????

*drumroll please*

Covers That Should Be Redesigned

Posted on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 4:00 AM

Can We Get a Cover Change?

I know that there are covers that we all LOVE, hell, I even have a Cover Love shelf on Goodreads.  But I got to thinking about those books that we come across with those covers that are freaking ugly  not very eye catching.  I know that I should judge a book based on what the outside looks like, but I CAN'T HELP IT.  If a book is hideous on the outside, it's highly likely that it will never grace the shelves of my collection.  I hate to admit that I'm a cover whore and very shallow when it comes to what's on the outside, but there you have it.

Here's just a few of covers that hurt my eyes my least favorite covers

OOHHH, looks it's a light bulb, I must read this book so that I can find out what lights the bulb!!

Don't that weird looking thing over this huge face make you want to pick this book up!

Someone has a sun burn...

Yeah, I don't even know.

Someone played outside in the snow a little too long and ended up with Frost Bite

The Host The Eye...it's watching you *muhahahaha*

What do you think of these?

How To Survive The Zombie Apocalypse | The Walking Dead Style

How To: Survive the Zombie Apocalypse

In honor of The Walking Dead returning tonight, I wanted to do a post to celebrate its return!  So, without further ado, here's some things you should remember for when the zombie apocalypse happens.

1.  The first thing that you should do is, find yourself a redneck who knows how to hunt and shoot a bow and arrow.  Trust me, this will come in handy.

2.  Don't get greedy.  If you ask for more toilet paper instead of doing the whole 'drip dry' thing, then you will most likely get bit by a zombie.  Don't believe me?  Keep an eye out around .14 & .24 seconds!

3.  Don't get pregnant.  Pregnancy and the zombie apocloypse doesn't mix, just ask Lori.

4.  Whatever you do, do not, I repeat DO NOT trust anyone that goes by the name THE GOVERNER.  Repeat after me "Governer = Bad"

5. If all else fails and you find yourself in a sticky situation with another person, don't panic, just pull a Shane.  Don't know how?  Watch the clip below for instructions.

I hope you learned some valuable information today.  Until next time, keep calm and remember that in the event of a zombie apocalypse, I will "Shane" you

Times In Which I Fangirl

Happy Halloween & A Series Spotlight

Posted on Thursday, October 31, 2013 4:00 AM

Some of my favorite things about October is being able to go to a bunch of haunted houses (Fallsburg Haunted House was AMAZING!), watch a ton of scary movies on TV and take my kids trick or treating. And since I love Halloween so much I thought I would do something Halloweeny for the blog.

I have been racking my brain trying to come up with something to do and I finally decided that I would spotlight my FAVORITE SERIES EVER since it involves vampires, ghouls and one book even has a few zombies. The series that I’m talking about is the Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost!

I fell in love with this series years ago when I first met Cat and Bones, and I have been a devoted fangirl ever since. The last book in the series comes out in January and I’m devastated to say goodbye, so I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to show why I love this series in hopes that someone else will decide to pick it up and fall in love with BONES this world and BONES these characters it like I did.

Here are just a few reasons why I love this series:

Bones Yes, he has to be number 1! Bones was my first book boyfriend and I will always refer to him as my first ‘book boyfriend’ love. He’s strong, loyal, cocky, sarcastic and he will protect what he loves at all cost.

Cat Cat is the most kick-ass heroine that I have ever had the pleasure of ‘meeting’. She’s a freaking vampire hunter, how bad ass is that? She also doesn’t take shit from anyone, she’s more likely to knock you on your ass than shake your hand.

The Humor I can’t tell you how many times these books made me laugh out loud. Below are some example of the quotes that tickled me:

"You called her Kitten? And she let you? She put me in a coma for three days when I called her that! My balls never recovered from her smashing them into my spine!"

"What the hell was that?" I gasped. "Premature inflammation," he replied. "Happens sometimes. Very embarrassing. I don’t like to talk about it."

"I am going to knock the slut out of you. And that should take some doing, you uppity English tramp!"

"Lucifer’s bouncing balls, Kitten, not again!" Uh-oh. I squirmed, instinctively also trying to block Tony’s body from his view. As if that made him any less dead. "She was going to stab you," I said in my defense. "Look in her hand!" He was looking at the ground near my feet instead. "Him, too?" I nodded, sheepish. "He jumped me." Bones just stared. "You’re not a woman," he said finally. "You’re the grim reaper with red hair!"

The RomanceThis is one of those books where you can feel the connection between the two main characters. I’ve read some books where the connection sucked and I couldn’t believe they end up together. Here’s a few more quotes from the books:

"If I die, I will wait for you, do you understand? No matter how long. I will watch from beyond to make sure you live every year you have to its fullest, and then we’ll have so much to talk about when I see you again."

"Do you think I’m pretty?" I heard myself ask. Something I couldn’t name flashed across his face. "No. I don’t think you’re pretty. I think you’re the most beautiful girl I’ve ever seen."

"You think I look like an angel? Well, Kitten, your hands are heaven and your eyes are my home."

"There were words for what he meant to me, but if I studied every language ever spoken for the next thousand years, I still wouldn’t find enough of them to describe it."

I'll leave you with a Halloweeny video :)

Happy Halloween!

Talk To Me

Have you read these books? If so, what do you think of them? If not, do you think you will give them a try?
