Top Ten Tuesday | Books I've Forced People To Read

Posted on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 3:30 AM

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and The Bookish.
This week’s topics is: Books I have been forced to read
I haven’t had a lot of recommendations coming at me, mostly because I don’t know many people IRL that read as much as I do, so I’m usually the one giving recommendations. So, for today’s list, I thought that I would switch it up and list the top ten books that I have forced people to read or plan to force them to read *muhahaha*

The Hunger Games – I recommended this trilogy to my mom and a friend. My mom loved them and she flew through the books but my friend wasn’t too crazy about Mockingjay…or Katniss.
Divergent – My mom is actually reading this right now. She says that she likes what she has read so far.

Halfway to the Grave – I recommended this to a co-worker and she LOVED it! She borrowed all of the books in the series from me since I own them all (BTW, this is my favorite series EVER)

The Fault in our Stars – I let my mom borrow this one to read because I thought it would be something that she would like. She started on it but she didn’t finish it because of the cussing that I had forgotten about…OOPS.
Some Girls Bite – I recommended this series to a friend who loved vampires and of course she ended up loving this series.

A Hunger Like No Other – I recommended this one to the same co-worker that I mentioned above and she loved it as well.

Obsidian – I have been recommending this series to a friend for a long time, but she has yet to read it. But I’m very determined for her to meet Daemon!

First Grave on the Right – This series is one of the most hilarious that I have read so I immediately recommended them to a friend and she loved them as much as I did.

The Selection – I plan to force my mom to read this book once she gets done with the Divergent trilogy since she seems to like YA dystopian, I guess the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree :D

Winter Longing – This book had me sobbing by the end of the first…(or second?) chapter so when I got finished with it, I immediately gave it to my mom to read and just as I expected she cried like a baby too.

  2. Nice! I haven't read a lot of these, but I definitely would 'force' other people to read THG and Divergent as well XD I don't know about TFiOS, because I might make someone cry (HAHA), and I didn't really like The Selection all that much. It was really enjoyable though, I don't even know why that is >.> Great list, Christy!

  3. What a cute spin on this week's Top Ten Tuesday. I wish had more friends/family members that liked to read! I would have some many awesome recommendations, haha. I think it's awesome that your mom will read books that you give her and stuff. My mom used to like to read, but now she is really busy and barely ever has time for it. My boyfriend got her a 300-page book for Christmas last year and she's STILL READING IT, haha.

  6. Ooh, great spin on the topic. I had a friend "force" me to read THG and Divergent, and I read The Selection after seeing it on so many blogs.

  8. I'm excited to see Kresley Cole on here! I read A Hunger Like No Other close to two years ago. I immediately read through the rest of the series, and now I'm addicted to it. I also really enjoyed Cole's first YA book, Poison Princess.

I've recommended The Hunger Games to more people than I can count.

  9. I also couldn't really think of books I was forced to read so I did books I force on other people! Divergent and The Hunger Games made my list as well, such great books. I also loved The Fault In Our Stars, such a good book. I've not heard of some of these but now I really want to read some of them, to the TBR list they go! My TTT

  10. Oh, yeah, I think everyone should at least try The Fault in Our Stars. I wouldn't have remembered the cursing either! The Selection is such a fast, entertaining speedy read.
