Daemon will do anything to get Katy back.

After the successful but disastrous raid on Mount Weather, he’s facing the impossible. Katy is gone. Taken. Everything becomes about finding her. Taking out anyone who stands in his way? Done. Burning down the whole world to save her? Gladly. Exposing his alien race to the world? With pleasure.

All Katy can do is survive.

Surrounded by enemies, the only way she can come out of this is to adapt. After all, there are sides of Daedalus that don’t seem entirely crazy, but the group’s goals are frightening and the truths they speak even more disturbing. Who are the real bad guys? Daedalus? Mankind? Or the Luxen?

Together, they can face anything.

But the most dangerous foe has been there all along, and when the truths are exposed and the lies come crumbling down, which side will Daemon and Katy be standing on?

And will they even be together?

*May contain spoilers from the previous books*

I have been looking forward to this book since that jaw-dropping ending in Opal.  I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this book and see what would happen next with Daemon and Katy and I happy to say that Jennifer L Armentrout did not disappoint.  Origin is just as engrossing and action-packed as the previous books in this series.  And I just love that we get Daemon’s POV also, I really enjoyed getting inside his head.

Origin begins with Katy in the hands of the Daedalus and Daemon hell bent on saving her no matter what it means for him.  But will Daemon be able to get to Katy before the Daedalus completely break her?

Once again, I’m in awe of how strong Katy is, I’m not sure that I could have survived everything that she has.  Katy’s also very loyal and determined, you can always count on her to stand up for what she believes in regardless of the consequences.  Daemon has come a long way from the hot asshat alien that we met in Obsidian, sure he still has his moments of asshatery (I don’t think that’s a word, oh well) but we also get to see a bit of his sweet side and we finally get inside his head and get to see just how much he cares about Katy and his family.

This series has amazing secondary characters.  I love Dawson, Dee, Beth, Archer and surprisingly I also really liked Luc, that little guy could make me laugh like no other.

There is a ton of things going on in Origin, it has everything from action, humor, betrayal, and death.  There’s also a ton of shocking revelations in this book.  I would have never guessed what Origins were and that news right before the ending…SHOCKER!  And as I’ve come to expect from Ms. Armentrout’s books, it ends with a cliffhanger that leaves you dying for more.

One more thing…if by some miracle JLA actually sees this review, I just want to say that Daryl Dixon did look good in your acknowledgments ;)

Favorite Quotes

Yes,” I said.  “She is worth everything.”

******************

“Did you think you could stop me?” Power shot from me, smacking into the door behind Dawson, blowing it off the hinges and into the house.  “I’ll burn the world down to save her.”

Each of them had died saving someone else, and most people would never know their names or what they’d sacrificed.  But we would.  Their loss would leave a mark on us for a long time coming, if not for eternity.

  1. I loved this book! It was by far the best in the series. I agree with you about Katy-- she has GOT to be one of the strongest MC I have ever read.

    Great review!
